eHOPE Digital Literacy Project

Since Dec. 2019

In Dec. 2019, I teamed up with three high school students to initiate an online English teaching program, eHOPE Digital Literacy Project, for the children of migrant workers in China. Through funds donated by local entrepreneurs, we were able to set up a computer lab at Zheng Xin Primary School in Yi Xin, China, complete with 50+ computers, projectors, digital whiteboards, and internet access. As the lab was being built, we spent the next 9 months designing an innovative curriculum specifically tailored to be completely taught online and implementing it into the school’s courses. Finally, on Sept. 2020, Zheng Xin Primary School hosted its first official online English class for its 5th grade students. With an initial total of 100 hours of attendance per week by two classes of 50 students, over the years, the hours of attendance has since expanded to 500 per week between 10 classes ranging from 3rd to 5th grade through Monday to Thursday, each semester. Currently, we are a team of 16 volunteer teachers and continuously adding new members. So far, our teachers hail from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Massachusetts.

University of Pittsburg Medical Center (UPMC Memorial, York)

In July 2022, I was selected to join UPMC Memorial Hospital York – ICU as a volunteer to assist medical staff with patient needs.

I serve 3 hours every Monday and Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
